The Legacy Lives On....
From left, Strait Gunsmokensugar, ridden by Shawn Darnall, and his sire, Strait
From Texas, ridden by Gary Wells, proved that roping know-how runs in their
genes. Both horses were shown by Wells in the Steer Stopping and Heading and by
Darnall in the Heeling.
Like father, like son.
The old addage perfectly describes last night's roping finals. Strait
Gunsmokensugar won a World Championship in Junior Steer Stopping, a Reserve
World Championship in Junior Heading and placed fourth in Junior Heeling. His
sire, Strait From Texas, earned World Championships in Senior Heading and Senior
Heeling and a Reserve World Championship in Senior Steer Stopping and Senior
Calf Roping. Owned by Fisher Farms of Wagner, South Dakota, Strait
Gunsmokensugar has earned points in calf roping, heading, heeling, steer
stopping, reining and working cow horse. He is currently No. 1 in the nation in
the Top Twenty Open Performance.
Strait From Texas, owned by the Strait From Texas LLT Partnership, has become
legendary in the World Show's roping events, having won multiple World and
Reserve World Championships in Heading, Heeling and Steer Stopping. He also
earned the titles of 1997 and 1998 Oscar Crigler Cattle Award winner, which is
presented to the horse earning the most points in cattle events at each World
Show. He was Reserve World Champion All Around at the World Show this year and
captured the Oscar Crigler Cattle Award once again for his efforts.

..We're back from Ft Worth and would like to thank the folks that bought our RisKey colts. They went to two really great homes, one in Texas and the other in New Mexico. Both colts will be started under saddle and then on to the trainers to get ready for the show careers. Good luck to both. All the rain we had didn't dampen their excitement in getting these two fine colts.
Strait From Texas did not make it to the Margarita Classic, however, RR Riskymastrpiece was there and in fine form as usual. He backed up his big wins at the Congress with a repeat clean sweep in the cattle events....calf roping, heading, heeling, and steer stopping and walked away with another Hi Point All Around Open Cattle Horse title to his credit. Way to go, Master!
Remember breeding season is just around the corner and if you would like a super chance at producing an outstanding performance horse out of one of your good mares, we invite you to COME TO THE SOURCE....Ris Key Business. He will be standing at Raggio Ranch in Douglass, Ks again this season. Please contact Brian Raggio at 316-747-2564 for more information and breeding contract.

Happy Moonshadow, black/white son of Ris Key Business was recently "no saled" at the Shawnee, Ok. Triangle Sale held in October for $19,000!! This colt already has a ROM in reining and the owners took him back home and put him back in training. They are taking him to the World next year. Tell me, it "ain't" in the genes. Watch for Moonshadow on the circuit next year. |

Over 200 head of the best of the best 3 year olds, mostly quarter horses, competed at the NRCHA GMC Sierra World Championship Snaffle Bit Futurity held in Reno, Nevada Sept/Oct. 2000. Buddy finished in 6th place overall, pushing his earnings to over $20,000. Not bad for 3 outs on this young paint horse "pnenom" sired by Strait From Texas. He will be competing again in California in a couple of weeks and then on to Oklahoma City, OK the end of November for the NRHA Futurity!

Strait GunsmokeNSugar, the first colored foal, from the first foal crop sired by Strait From Texas, now a three year old, has raised his LifeTime Earnings to $16,637 in only two outs.
The bay tobiano called "Buddy" recently captured the 2000 NRCHA High Dessert Western Spectacular Snaffle Bit Futurity LO Championship, the 2KL Championship and placed 7th in the Open division out of a field of 102 horses that included 94 Reg AQHA entries and 8 Reg APHA entries. Riding and sliding past the competition to win two of the three divisions the cow bred stallion scored a three event total of 435 and turned heads by winning five checks in the go-around. Combined with his three final placing checks the young horse had a total weekend purse of $14,050.
Well known industry spectators to the event commented that "Buddy" was capable of finishing any NRCHA event as well as any horse in the nation on the "Cow" (Fence) work, a statement easily evidenced by his winning performance in two of the three divisions and placing second in the open.
Be sure to watch "Buddy' at the NRHA Futurity Nov. 24 - Dec. 2, 2000 at OK City, OK.
The RisKey Business Syndication and Grandpa Riskey too, of course, send our warmest congratulations to Lynn Fischer, owner of Buddy and his Dad, Strait.

Here is another outstanding colt that makes his Grandpa, Ris Key Business, extremely proud! We are taking bookings now for 2001 for RisKey....come to the source (Click Here)!
"Strait GunsmokeNsugar, "Buddy", by Multiple World Champion Strait From Texas, placed 4th at the APHA Reining Challenge. Trainer, Ron Emmons, didn't want to run him in any other events as he's getting him ready for the Western Desert Classic in Bend, OR. Then after he will go to Reno, NV for the Snafflebit Futurity. According to Ron Emmons "He is one of the best flat spinning horses that I've ever ridden, with huge stops, and he's a great loper." Guess we'll wait and hope that Ron is right! He's awesome on a cow. We are very pleased with Buddy." Fischer Farms
